In these one-hour live webinars, experts present selected topics on methods for producing and using evidence syntheses, with a focus on new approaches and recent developments. Each webinar is organised by a different European Cochrane Group. The series also provides a forum for discussing current methodological challenges in review work and exchanging ideas.

Topic: Use of QUADAS-3 for quality assessment of Diagnostic test accuracy studies in evidence synthesis.

Diagnostic test accuracy (DTA) studies may have shortcomings in their design and conduct that may bias their results. QUADAS-2, published in 2011, is the most widely used tool for assessing the risk of bias and applicability in this type of study. QUADAS-3 is the next iteration of this tool and contains several improvements to the previous version. Risk of bias and applicability are now assessed at the estimate level (rather than the study level), and are assessed in relation to an 'ideal test accuracy trial'. The tool largely retains the 4 domain structure, now named Participants, Index Test, Target Condition, and Analysis, with several new and updated signaling questions. Users can furthermore make an overall judgement of risk of bias (and applicability), across these four domains.
